Family ties - Kl. 8 b/s

After a bit of laughter yesterday we return to our routine.

We've been stuck at home for a while now, mostly with our families.
So it's great that Unit 5 which we are just about to start is called - Family Ties.  Open your Books on page 73. Take a look at the picture and try to answer those questions. Answer aloud, or just whisper, but try to speak. No worries,  nobody is listening to you right now ;)) Try to speak in English even if it seems ridiculous and silly to you. I don't want you to loose your speaking abilities.

OK, so, books p. 73:

  • What do you see over there?   What are you thinking about when you look at this picture?
Take a look at your hand ;)))
  • What is the age difference between you and your mum? How about your mum and your grandmother?
  • How well do you know your family? How many of  your relatives do you regularly keep in touch with?
  • Who is the oldest relative in your family? Who is the youngest?  How old are they?
Take your time..

-------------------------------------
AND NOW SOME BACKGROUND INFO

Your family – both the ancestors who lived in  the past and your living relatives – determines what kind of person you are more than you may believe.  A large part of  your appearance, but also some of your personality traits, can be genetically passed down from parents or grandparents.

The features which are often inherited from your ancestors include the colour of your eyes, your blood type, height or body build. But your character is also shaped by everyday relations with your closest family members. Proper family are built when family members talk about their feelings and problems, do some activities together and respect and support each other.

It is said that one of  the most important things is having meals together – that’s the best time for communication ;))

------------------------------------------

What about your family? Do you often eat meals together?  Do so. That's your task from now on ;))

Now write down and translate words in bold.

Coursebook (Podrecznik)

Then read the text from p. 74-75  MEET THE ANCESTORS . Mach the headings with the correct sections in the text.   ex. C p.74.
Use your dictionary while reading. Write down some new words.

Next do ex. D and F p. 75 in your notebook. I will ask some of you to send me photos of your answers later.  ;)))

Because we have 2 hours today do also ex. A/B/C p. 76  as a review  (in your free time).
There're very easy (describing people and family members' names).
Ex. B p. 76 as a whole sentences into your notebooks please.

Workbook (Ćwiczenia)

Ex A/B  p. 57

----------------------------------
Volunteers and those of you who like to read and are interested in twins, genes, biology or science,  can read the text in your Workbooks  p.56.

SOME QUESTIONS JUST FOR FUN ;))

  • If you could choose someone famous to be a family member, who would you choose and why?  ;)))   Share your thoughts if you want.  ;))))

  • If you could go back in time, which one of your ancestors would you like to meet? And why?

That's all for today ;))
Take care and see U all next week
